Oliver is a Solicitor within the Dispute Resolution and Personal Injury departments at Malcolm C Foy and Co. Oliver joined the firm in 2018 as a paralegal before achieving his Master’s degree at distinction level in Civil Legal Practice through the University of Law in Leeds. On accepting a training contract at Malcolm C Foy and following its successful completion, Oliver qualified as a Solicitor in December 2020.
Throughout his time with the firm, Oliver has been mentored by and worked closely with the Head of Civil Litigation, Robert Johnson and the Head of Personal Injury and Medical Negligence, Daniel Carr providing him with experience in a range of cases across a broad spectrum of the contentious work undertaken by the firm.
Medical Negligence - Oliver has developed a keen interest and passion for medical negligence work. Having worked closely with Daniel Carr during his training, Oliver has developed his knowledge and skill set dealing with a variety of claims involving personal injury and death as a result of clinical failure. Oliver understands the difficulties clients face where the provision of medical care and treatment has been substandard, resulting in life changing injuries and fatalities. It is Oliver’s aim to develop the medical negligence work undertaken at MCF and provide clients a means of bringing change to medical practice and procedure, recovering compensation and securing remedial treatment where the medical profession has failed, including claims against the NHS, GP and Dental Practices, pharmacies and private medical bodies.
Personal Injury – Oliver has worked with both Robert Johnson and Daniel Carr on a number of complex cases involving severe injuries including accidents in the workplace, road traffic accidents and accidents occurring on the premises of a third party. Oliver continues to develop his personal injury case load alongside his medical negligence work which consists of claims involving minor and severe injuries across a variety of scenarios. Oliver has developed a particular interest in claims against care homes where failings and substandard care have resulted in injury to some of the most vulnerable members of the community.
Civil Litigation – During his training Oliver has worked closely with experienced litigator and the Head of Dispute Resolution, Robert Johnson in a variety of civil and commercial disputes including land and boundary disputes, commercial debt disputes and Trust of Land matters (property disputes of cohabitees following the breakdown of a relationship). Oliver continues to work closely with Robert Johnson to develop an already busy litigation department and has a particular interest in claims concerning the adverse possession of land.
